Calcium gluconate on the skin binds with the toxic hydrofluoric acid. It can therefore prevent serious skin damage caused by hydrofluoric acid. It is also known as HF burn ointment .
It can be used at poisoning by hydrofluoric acid on the skin due to an accident.

Usage
- Immediately rinse the skin with plenty of lukewarm running water for a maximum of 5 minutes.
- Then use a spatula to apply a layer of calcium gluconate gel, half a centimeter thick, to the affected area. Also apply the calcium gluconate gel under and on the nails.
- Rinse the layer away after 2 minutes and apply a new half-centimetre-thick layer.
- Repeat this until the pain is gone or medical help arrives.
- Allow the last layer to dry on the skin.
- Are the hands affected? Then fill latex gloves with the gel and wear them.
- Close the tube tightly to prevent spoilage. You can use the same tube for 1 week after opening, after which it will no longer keep.
How long?
The doctor will usually advise you to apply the gel to the affected areas for 3 to 4 days after the accident.
