Treating scars
A scar is formed after deep damage to the skin. If only the epidermis is damaged, for example with superficial abrasions, no scars will occur. If the dermis is also involved in the injury, the skin will recover, leaving a scar. The scar tissue that remains after recovery consists of collagen (connective tissue).
